Our shelter has been included in the lack of calls we normally receive before the pandemic started. We also have seen an increase in more extreme cases in the calls we are receiving. Our shelter is still open. We have domestic violence advocates, legal advocates and child advocates that can help anyone who is seeking advice, referrals or shelter. Protective orders can still be filed during this time as well. Please don’t hesitate to call for yourself or to obtain information for friends and family.
National Deaf Hotline Services
ADWAS is excited to announce that the National Deaf Hotline Services has been expanded to 24/7.
Domestic violence thrives in silence. To be able to support and help victims and survivors, and to prevent domestic violence in the future, we all need to talk about it. And to talk about domestic violence, we need others to fully understand what it is.
As a supporter of domestic violence victims and survivors, we need you to help us spread the word this October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM).
This year’s DVAM theme is #Every1KnowsSome1 to highlight the fact that domestic violence can happen to anyone and is more prevalent than people realize. We will be sharing social content on our channels throughout the month that focuses on getting back to basics in raising awareness about what domestic violence is, who it impacts, and why we all need to care.
Join us! Help us amplify this important message and get a conversation started by sharing the content on your own social networks.
Wear Purple Day is October 21st!!

2021 Lobster Fest is Canceled
Dear Sponsors and Friends of Safe Harbor,
Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience and disappointment, but we will be canceling our 14th Annual Lobster Fest, due to COVID-19. As you know, the Delta variant has wreaked havoc on our community, and we appreciate you understanding that we decided to cancel the event.
Next year’s event is Saturday, August 13th2022, at the Bellefonte Country Club at 6:30 pm., in the hope that the pandemic has subsided. Please mark your calendars for next year’s date.
As mentioned in the previous letter, since we have decided to cancel the event, we will offer three options:
Donate the sponsorship or payment to Safe Harbor.
Leave the sponsorship, payment and reservation with Safe Harbor and put towards next year’s Lobster Fest which is planned for August 13, 2022.
Ask for a refund, in which case we will be happy to return your donation or payment.
Whatever you decide is perfectly acceptable and we will make the transaction once we hear back from you. You may ask for a refund if our next year’s date is not acceptable, please notify Beth Lunsford or Tiffanie Buckner at 606-329-9304.
We are tremendously grateful for your generosity on behalf of our families and appreciate your understanding during these ever changing and challenging times.
